Minutes from the September 8, 2008 Meeting

The meeting was called to order by President, Charlotte at 7:35 pm.  There were 28 members in attendance.  Charlotte welcomed all new members and guest and announced “Go Ravens!” in celebration of yesterdays win, Ravens 17 Bengals 10.

 Council Report

  • Our Roost ordered 60 of the Pressbox 1958 Championship Books.

  • Council Bull Roast is February 7, 2009 at the Patapsco Arena.  Tickets are $40 each.  We have 100 Basket of Cheer tickets to sell.  Our roost gets half of the money for the sale of the 100 tickets.

  • Dogfest is raising money for homeless animals. www.dogfest2008.org

  • Kami’s Jammies Program wants new 2 piece PJs, and they are especially in need of infant and teen sizes.  www.caseycaresfoundation.org

President’s Report

  • Charlotte’s dad participated in the Memory Walk for Alzheimer’s for 20 years and raise $23,000.  Charlotte will be participating this year in memory of her dad on October 4.  A sponsor sheet was passed around.

 Treasurer’s Report

  • Donna reported a balance of $3,390.22.

 Executive Board

  • Nothing to report

 Committee Reports

  • Membership:  Cathy reported that dues were still coming in.

  • Website:  Charlotte will write up a new President’s letter, and Stephanie will post it on the website.

  • Historian:   Nothing to report

  • Charity:  Jim has a couple of charities in mind, and he is open to suggestions.

  • Sickness:  Mary J. is having surgery on Thursday, September 11.  Keep her in your prayers.  Cathy will send out an update on how she is doing.

Old Business

  • Jim and Dan reported the 8th Annual Bull & Oyster Roast is Sunday, November 16 from 12 – 5 pm at Rosedale Gardens, 8037 Philadelphia Road, 21237.  Flyers are available.  Tickets are available at $35.00 each.  There will be a silent auction, raffles and games in addition to big screen TV’s surrounding the hall televising the Ravens vs. Giants, game time 1:00 pm.  All roost members are asked to bring something for the basket of cheer.  Cathy will send out letters for prize donations.  Jim will send in contract and check tomorrow to Rosedale Gardens. Greatmoments.com will be used for the silent auction.  Donna shared an idea about buying 4 nice pictures and selling 100 football pool blocks for the 4 pictures.  Cathy will look into instant bingos.  Jim will contact Rent-a-Center.  We need a lot of cable and rabbit ears.  Jim will contact Dan.  We need to pick a charity.  Big Ed’s band was suggested so far.

New Business

  • Next year’s Raven’s Roost Annual Convention will be Thursday, May 28 through Sunday, May 31, 2009.  Everyone was in favor for staying at The Grand.  Charlotte will send in the contract for our 30 blocked rooms.  Rooms are $145 a night.  Charlotte made a suggestion to possibly have all of us on one floor with the hospitality room at the end.  She even suggested that her room could be next to the hospitality room.

  • Charlotte congratulated the first 2 winners of our football pool.  Also, there were 2 people who never cashed their checks from last year’s pool.

  • Congratulations winner Sue R. on tonight’s 50/50!

  • The bus from Raffy’s going to the game yesterday did not show up.

  • Jim has schedules!
